Meet the owner of the Alaska Horse Ranch, Lynda Plettner! Raised in California, Lynda’s love for horses began early as a child, and she has been riding and training horses ever since. Ranch Manager

Meet our awesome ranch manager, Jennifer Boren! Handling the day-to-day and ensuring everyone is at the right place at the right time, Jennifer keeps Alaska Horse Ranch operating like a well-oiled machine.

Alaska Horse Ranch is “Alaska’s ideal equine playground”. Nestled in the heart of Mat-Su Valley, Alaska Horse Ranch backs up to the Iditarod trail system, offering a beautiful setting for our guests and their horses. Our Equestrian Center offers a range of specialized equine services which include: Riding Lessons, Trail Rides, Horse Boarding & Horse Leasing. Riding lessons are offered in English and Western disciplines in order to safely and enjoyably advance student skills. We offer trail riding with over 100 acres of private land with trails and direct access to hundreds more acres of public land in the Alaska wilderness. Leasing customers may choose from three types of horse leasing plans that cater to your available riding time. Self-Care and Full-Care horse boarding options are available to meet your individual needs.

Equestrian Center Amenities

Just a few of the wonderful amenities available at Alaska Horse Ranch.

85' x 185' Outdoor Riding Arena

Our main outdoor riding arena is fenced with Centaur Flex HTP, leveled to drain with 8″ base, 3/4″ minus & shredded rubber. In addition, it is set-up with irrigation for watering, and graded and dragged regularly. The arena is equipped with hotwire and can be turned on for turn-out. It is usable right up until the hard winter freeze.

20M x 60M Full Outdoor Dressage Arena

Our full competition-sized dressage arena is 66’ x 198’ and located on high ground. It is crown-drained with an 8” base, topped with 3/4″ minus & blended with shredded rubber. Our equestrian center plans on hosting Dressage Schooling Shows in this arena. A viewing gazebo is available for the comfort of our guests.

42’ x 200’ Heated Indoor Riding Hall

Most riding lessons are started in our heated indoor riding hall. It’s big enough to walk, trot, and canter, but small enough to give riders a sense of security. It has a heated tack room and tack-up area, and it’s connected directly to the tack and feed store with an indoor viewing area as well as easy access to a full bathroom.

On-Site 1/2 mile Galloping Track

Our on-site 1/2 mile galloping track gives our clients a safe place to build their confidence and improve their riding position, while simultaneously getting their horse’s heart rate up and improving their fitness!

50’ Training Round Pen

Our custom round pen is a fully paneled, 5’ foot tall training round pen with 8” base & topped with 3/4″ minus. We have the addition of shredded rubber coming soon!

Built for safety, this beefy round pen is perfect for everything from starting horses, free lunging, and more.

12 x 12 Stalls with 12 x 36 Run

Our spacious stalls feature concrete floors with stall mats, heated automatic waterers, and built-in grain tubs. Shared area includes indoor tack room and covered isles with generous tie out spaces. For your safety and convenience, the center is equipped with a full surveillance system and on-site surveillance manager.

8-Horse Hot Walker

Our two-directional hot walker can accommodate up to eight horses.

Keep your horses exercised when you don’t have time or warm them up before a ride.

On-site Trails

Have access to 40 acres, about 2 miles of trails, of a private and groomed trail system with views of Denali. The system is adjacent to 140 acres of state and Borough land, with no other public access, for your riding enjoyment. Alaska Horse Ranch also offers generous trailer parking for “haul-in” customers who wish to bring their own horse(s).

Heated 17 Stall Barn

Fully heated 17-stall barn attached to our heated indoor riding hall is our newest location offering.
