Trail Riding

Have you been searching for an incredible location for trail riding in the Mat-Su Valley? Alaska Horse Ranch has over 100 private acres with trails and direct access to hundreds of acres more of public land. Trail rides are guided so you and your riding group can not only see the sights, but will have an experienced staff member with you to show you all the ins and outs of the land. Alaska Horse Ranch also offers generous trailer parking for “haul-in” customers who wish to bring their own horse(s).

*Trail Rides run seasonally from May 15th – Sep 15th, or as weather allows.

1 Hour Trail Ride: $125 per person

1 ½ Hour Trail Ride: $165 per person

2 Hour Trail Ride: $195 per person

All riders must wear closed-toe shoes, preferably boots with heels and minimal tread. We recommend riders wear long pants. All riders must wear helmets (can be provided). Riders should arrive a minimum of 15-minutes prior to the trail ride. Contact the Ranch about bringing your own horse for a guided ride (Coggins required). Arenas are not available for “haul-ins.” All trail riders must be at least 12 years of age. If riding one of our horses, rider maximum weight 250 lbs.

For some it provides an opportunity to enjoy your horse without the stress of competition.

If you bring your own horse on a guided ride, the benefits of trail riding for your horse include increased responsiveness, quicker recovery from distractions, better balance, improved muscle conditioning and ability to better negotiate obstacles. It also offers a practical environment to practice maneuvers such as backing, forehand and haunch pivots, leg yield, and gait transitions. The change of scenery that riding trails offers is worth the effort of trailering to a new location.
